My husband suggested this book to me after he read 10 pages of it - he said I would love it and he was not wrong. Red Rising is the first of a trilogy by Pierce Brown but [GOOD NEWS] all three books have already been written and published (looking at you George R. R. Martin and Patrick Rothfuss).
I don't want to spoil any of the book for you so here is the shortest review ever: this is largely a MUCH better version of the Hunger Games series. There is love, loss, and a whole lot of fighting. The book is more tailored to an adult audience because the protagonist, Darrow, has many insightful, honest, and moving passages of inner reflection (which, in my opinion, were copious by their absence in Hunger Games).
After you read it (you're welcome) be sure to comment on your thoughts below!
Have you guys heard about Jet.com, the new shopping website? Some predict it may be the next Amazon. I'm all about some online shopping, and this site bills itself as an online warehouse that will save its users 10 to 15% on all of their purchases.
Ok, to be fair it's more like my 8th Stitch Fix but only my second review so the title still works. I scheduled a Stitch Fix last month (I know, I'm late) as a birthday present to myself and the company delivered in a big way. (If you need a recap of what Stitch Fix, how it works, etc., check out my first review here).
I'm just going to come out and admit it - if you've taken a look at my book board on Pinterest, then you know that I am interested in reading just about any historical fiction about the Romanov family. Guilty as charged. So, I was pretty excited to come across The Secret Daughter of the Tsar at the bookstore last year.
