Hope everyone had a great weekend! Since the Memorial Day holiday is coming up, and since there is no end in sight to all of the rain the East Coast is having, I’m sure you guys could use another one of my awesome TV show recommendations.
This one is the Netflix original series, The Ranch. The show itself is pretty simple. Former high school/college football star Ashton Kutcher comes home after bombing in the pros in order to help out on his family’s ranch. Nothing groundbreaking there.
But what makes the show is the writing (which is both clever and funny) as well as the cast: Sam Elliott plays Ashton Kutcher’s father/owner of said ranch in a role that was obviously created specifically for him; Debra Winger plays the mother (and owner of local watering hole); and Kutcher’s brother is played by Danny Masterson (Hyde from That 70s show. I know, adorable right?)
The storyline follows Kutcher reintegrating himself into his hometown, complete with running into his ex-girlfriend (played by Elisha Cuthbert from The Girl Next Door). The show is reminiscent of programs from the early 90s such as Home Improvement and Roseanne. Give it a try, and be sure to comment on your thoughts below!
